Latest news

Since the major effort at the moment is put in the Klemm L-25 project, I made some changes to the website. More alterations will follow in the future. I do realise that a lot of visitors are more attracted to my site because of the Mustant project than the Klemm L-25. In that case I have some good and some bad news. I am trying to put all my effort into the Klemm, in order to have it flying by the end of next year. In order to be able to do so, and the fact that the Mustang is shelved, I decided to put it up for sale... You can read all about it when you click via the "hangar" link.

Welcome
Welcome to my website devoted to building and flying airplanes. You are invited to browse through my site and get an inside look about what it is to build your own airplane(s) from scratch, and fly them... Ahum, fly, you’d say… Okay, at this moment I do not have one of my own aircraft up in the air… yet. But pretty soon I will... So, if you keep visiting the site on a regular basis, you can follow my progress, and see that I will finally get there! In future, depending on demand, I might also publish an electronic news letter as well.

The aircraft I build can be placed in the so called Homebuilt or Experimental Category Aircraft. At this moment I concentrate myself only on either the so called flying replicas, or on exact copies of the original design. In future this might change, however. The origin of the designs I work on now each date back before 1945. This all for one simple reason: this is where my greatest interest in aviation lies. And don't forget:

"A person that does not embrace his past, has no future..."

At the moment I am working on two projects at the same time. Both are accessable on this site. Up to this summer most progress has been made on the Mustang project. This is not a surprise if you consider the fact that this is my first project. In the meantime I concentrate all my time on the Klemm now, in order to have this one in the air first. Still a lot needs to be done, but at the moment I am quite happy to say that I am making a lot of progress: I am about halfway with the project, and more than two third of the airframe construction has been build.

Before you dig into our this website, I'll have to warn you for two things:

1. By looking to the projects, you run the risk of getting inspired yourself. Great! I’d love that! However, once you get hooked on building your own aircraft, it will not leave you alone anymore; it gets under your skin... Everybody having a little manual skill can do most of the work him- or herself, leaving only a few parts that you might not be able to build yourselves. On the other hand, you can buy yourself a complete kit, which might save you a lot of time, and work. Building is a lot of fun, and I can tell you it is more than satisfying to see the project grow under your hands. But remember, it takes a lot of devotion, time, patience, precision, moments of loneliness and frustration, and a lot of understanding and support from your family. If you manage to overcome all these things, the reward and joy at the end are unbeatable!

2. This site is not intended as a full Instruction Manual of “how to do it all”. (Read the disclaimer!). I try to give you an inside view of what it is to build your own aircraft, by taking you through all the different phases of the building process, and give some explanation how I do it. Some parts are very much into detail, and with other parts I will not give you all the information you might find necessary... The process of designing, calculating and getting the aircraft certified to fly is another thing I am not going to discuss, nor explain, on this website. Be aware that certification processes might differ for many counties. On the other hand, later on I will take you through the process of flight testing, and give you literally a look over my shoulder...
